Ms. Aimette - Class Syllabus

Welcome to period 4 Language Arts!!! My name is Ms. Aimette and we are going to have a totally amazing semester!!!

Before we begin, please carefully read through the following rules and guidelines if you want to pass my class. Also, if you do not put enough effort into your writing, you will have to meet for one on one tutoring sessions with me every day after school for 20 minutes.

     1. All assignments must be written in cursive.

As you will learn, when you write in print, you are continuously picking up your pen, however when you write in cursive, the words flow, and so do your thoughts. It's so easy, I even taught my dog Mussette (she was a Havanese) how to write in cursive! She was my very first student! So if a dog can do it, so can you!!!

     2. Stop spending so much time on social media.

The problem with media is that it causes less original thought. When you read a post or watch a video, you're reacting to someone else's idea and not fully being yourself. You're not experiencing an authentic feeling, you're just reacting to what's in front of you. Now, put that away or it's an automatic detention after school!

     3. Go home, sit against a tree, and... daydream.

One of the most useful tools I will ever teach you is the importance of daydreaming and letting your mind wander. You're going to let your thoughts go where they may, and let the idea come to you. You will use this exercise to come up with an idea for your final paper.

I know we will have a great time this year!  Who knows... you might find it so profound that you return 15 years later to film a coming-of-age movie about how much I influenced you!!!

Alright, you're dismissed. Have a great weekend!!!
